SC Department of Health and Human Services TEFRA Medicaid
Under Section 134 of the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 1982 (TEFRA), (P.L.97-248), states were allowed to make Medicaid benefits available to certain disabled children who would not ordinarily be eligible for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits because of their parent's income or resources. South Carolina began covering these children effective January 1, 1995.

The Down Syndrome Association of the Upstate is a non-profit organization with 501(c)(3) status, whose mission is to enrich the lives of people affected by Down Syndrome. The DSFA provides support and education through the sharing of ideas and resources and promoting awareness and community involvement.

The South Carolina Autism Society provides assistance, education, services, and resources to improve the lives of individuals affected by autism.

UCP provides community based supports to address the needs of individuals with cerebral palsy and other developmental disabilities.
